Orange glazed Cornish hens with a tinge of ginger and some fresh mint! I’ll admit I’ve never made Cornish hens before and my first time turned out pretty good! I made a zesty glaze with fresh orange juice, ginger and coconut sugar. I doused the Cornish hens with my homemade glaze and prepared fabulous, sweet n spicy succulent orange glazed Cornish hens. My Sunday Supper team is doing a holiday song/show theme and I was racking my brains on what to make. My youngest just happened to be singing “12 days of Christmas” and as she sang 3 French hens the light bulb went off. I made a slight modification, but you get it … 3 Cornish hens! I actually made 2 for my family of four and I had a few tbsp of leftover glaze. If you want a short cut use a good (preferably organic) marmalade in place of the orange glaze although I highly recommend making the glaze from scratch if you have time. Ginger and paprika definitely add some zip to the glaze. This dish was incredibly easy and fun to make and I hope you enjoy the recipe!
Nutrition Wise!
Cornish hens are a good source of protein, iron, zinc and B vitamins. Oranges are a good source of vitamin C and the ginger adds a good boost of immune building function. All in all some healthy nutrition bytes in this orange glazed Cornish hens!

Absolutely beautiful! I can imagine how succulent these birds are. This is not dissimilar to a piri piri chicken recipe I will post in the new year. Wishing you a peaceful festive season xo
Lovely suni. These are called guinea fowl in the UK and I really like them, so what a great recipe for me!
Wow the flavours you have combined here sound incredible. Hubby said he wants me to try it with our Christmas turkey this year. Sounds like a good idea to me, although not sure if the extended family would agree.
Darn it! This is one of my favorite Christmas songs and I couldn’t think what to make using the song so I went with National Lampoons Vacation! The cornish hens is such a great idea and I am LOVING the flavors you used!!!
Sue, this recipe looks amazing. I love that glaze. Pinned.
What a gorgeous Roasted Chicken! Merry Christmas to you and your family! Thank you for being such a big part of the #SundaySupper Family.
I’d rather eat a Cornish hen than a French hen anyway! Yours look cooked to perfection!
Those are the prettiest cornish hens that I’ve seen in ages. What great flavors and how the sauce gives the hens such a lovely color.
What a beautiful looking dish!
Amazing looking dish Sunithi! I haven’t has a cornish hen in year. I may give this a go! Happy Holidays to your and your family!
Wow! They look incredible! That glaze must just make those birds zing!
Your hens look amazing Sue! Too pretty to eat!
These look so yummy! I’ve never made Cornish Hens, I thought it would be difficult but you make it look so easy, and I love the nutritional info on it! Thanks for sharing Sue! Happy Holidays!
I was chatting with my coworkers after thanksgiving and one of my French coworkers had cornish hens for their dinner because they have a very small oven. I was surprised on how many of my American coworkers didn’t know about them! I’ll pass on the recipe so they can all try it, it looks like a winner!
Sue!! I LOVE this!! We make cornish hens once in a while and I will certainly use this gorgeous glaze!
Wow that looks gorgeous! The orange really gives it a nice color
Oddly enough, my mom made a lot of cornish hens when we were growing up so I can’t wait to taste this glaze on some!
Oh My Gosh! Your photos, this recipe…it’s all too wonderful. I’m pinning and am excited to try this recipe as soon as possible!
What a gorgeous color your hens turned out, Sunithi! Pretty as a picture and I am sure, very delicious! We love Cornish game hens (and orange marmalade) at our house so I can’t wait to try them with your glaze.
