Creamy Orange Julius with coconut milk & fresh herbs. Vegan, dairy free Orange Julius sweetened with honey is like drinking an orange creamsicle in a glass. This drink was actually popularized by the fruit chain store by the name Orange Julius, which started in the 1920s. A delish combo of oranges, milk, sugar and vanilla make up a creamisicle in a drink. My Sunday Supper team is doing a Retro Recipes theme! So fun!!! You know those recipes you loved as a kid and still long for. I picked orange Julius. I have made this recipe before using almond milk, but this time given my current craze for coconut milk I had to try it with coconut milk. I use silk coconut milk. It’s a lot lighter than canned coconut milk which I use for ice cream and desserts. The Orange Julius tasted creamy, cool and delish. I added some fresh thyme and fresh ginger to it and that just gave it a garden fresh taste. You can use fresh orange juice but I wanted to use whole oranges. I happen to have a high-powered vitamix blender which blends everything up really smooth so the oranges blend up smooth and give it an extra boost of fiber. I love that this drink is creamy, sweet, fruity and healthy and only takes minutes to make. I can indulge in a creamy, coconutty Orange Julius anytime!
Nutrition wise !
Oranges are packed with fiber, calcium, and vitamin D, E and bursting with vitamin C!! The ginger has anti-inflammatory properties, is a natural stomach soother and aids in digestion. Use any type of orange and as much of the pulp in as possible to get extra fiber. Coconut milk is loaded with healthy fats that get burned by the body as fuel. It also has immune boosting properties.

This sounds fantastic and refreshing! I’ve never had herbs with citrus in a drink as you’ve shown here. Sounds very healthy!
I remember going to the mall when I was a kid and getting an Orange Julius. It was the “cool” thing to do. I like your recipe much better with the coconut milk and thyme (my favorite herb).
I used to get these at the mall! I can’t wait to make your version at home. Thanks for bringing me back to my childhood!
This is a great summer drink! And I have everything in my fridge right now. Wonderful flavors Suni!
I love Orange Julius and haven’t had one forever. I like the spin you did on it!!
What a yummy drink! I’d definitely like to try it out…
I have actually been thinking of making something like this. Sounds yummy!
Thats such a neat twist – both the coconut milk and the herbs!
This sounds amazing! Orange Juilius was all the rage as a kid, great pick!
Great pick, Sue! Orange Julius = coming to the US and going to college. I love Orange Julius and thank you so much for this healthy take on this very tasty drink =)
I love that you incorporated thyme and ginger in this orane julius. It looks wonderful and refreshing.
This is such a wonderful recipe – very refreshing and nutritious. I love how it makes us feel good after having it.
Sue, I LOVE this recipe. I love creamsicles and used to drink those Orange Julius drinks obsessively (until I realized how many gross ingredients they threw in there, especially that unknown sugar powder stuff). I will not feel any guilt for slurping down several glasses of this at a time. I adore coconut milk and can only imagine how refreshing this is, especially with your fab additions of thyme and ginger.
The Orange Julius looks fantastic! I love that you made a dairy free version. It sound perfect!
I have been wanting to try adding herbs to a drink, this sounds wonderful
This sounds heavenly!
Could something like this also be made by substituting the orange with mango?
I’m definitely going to try this!
Tastes and smells like summer to me. Coconut and citrus is always a perfect combination for a smoothie or a refreshing drink. It’s still freezing outside but I’m so excited to try my hand on blending the ingredients and share the recipe to my friends. Now if only I could find some coconuts in the frigid cold. Ciao!
What a refreshing drink!! The pictures of the drink are simply amazing. Orange juice and coconut milk, a nice combination indeed. Thanks for sharing this innovative recipe.
I mean, it’s not even summer yet but I could definitely smell the hot season with this sumptuous drink. I’m actually taking notes on the ingredients of your smoothie so that I could sample it at home. I think this coconut and oranges duet is perfectas a welcome drink for unexpected guests.
Seems to be a nice treat. Thanks for sharing.
the orange juluis looks amazing and delicious. Thank you so much for sharing the recipe. I will definitely try this one!
I haven’t had an Orange Julius in years…Your recipe sounds great and a nice summer treat!
