The Benefits of Frozen Yogurt
For ice cream lovers in search of a healthier snack, there is a solution! Frozen yogurt is a healthier way to enjoy this summertime treat, and still tastes great. Here are just a few of the reasons why you might want to consider swapping ice cream for frozen yogurt in future.
One of the main health benefits of frozen yogurt is that brands with the “Live & Active Cultures” seal have a healthy dose of probiotics. Probiotics are “healthy bacteria” protective in nature and have numerous benefits from restoring the balance of the digestive tract to building immune function. It can help dieters achieve their weight loss goals without depriving them of ” all ” the good stuff ! Being overweight can affect everything from your general health to the cost of your health insurance. Losing even a few pounds can make a world of difference to your health. Even so, many people find sticking to a strict diet extremely difficult. Often, it can be better to simply make a few changes to your eating habits if you want to lose weight, rather than cutting out certain foods completely. Swapping ice cream for frozen yogurt – perhaps with a handful of fresh berries can be a simple way to improve your diet whilst still enjoying the foods that you eat.
Both ice cream and frozen yogurt contain lactose, but the lactose found in frozen yogurt is often easier for the body to break down. Therefore, many people who find that they have an intolerance to the lactose in ice cream are still able to enjoy frozen yogurt without and discomfort. Many ice cream parlours now also offer an impressive range of frozen yogurt flavors, the good news is that, just like ice cream, you can also create your own frozen yogurt at home! This also has the advantage of not needing a designated ‘frozen yogurt maker’ on order to conjure up delicious and inventive yogurt-based desserts. These are just a few of the reasons why more and more people are making the switch to frozen yogurt.
I make frozen yogurt at home and love the creamy texture, especially when I make it with Greek Yogurt. It is thick, creamy and delish. I use raw honey and natural fruit as sweeteners. I am sharing one of my favorite frozen yogurt recipes. Ripe peaches with yogurt, honey and some mint are all you need to make this healthy dessert. I used fresh peaches since it’s the season, but you can use frozen peaches too. I swirled some mint extract which gave it a delicate mint flavor and a green tint. Just made a batch today and took some pictures before it got demolished 🙂 ! Yumm !! Did not have time to embellish my frozen treat since my kids were in a hurry to eat it 🙂 !
