Every year when hunting season begins a gaming friend brings us a whole deer and that’s how we ended up with 40 lbs of Venison. I love Venison since it’s one of the healthier meats! lean protein … have you seen fat deer? Organic too since deer feed on wild foliage. Finding creative ways to cook and serve Venison when I am cooking it every week is challenging. So this year when my new batch arrived I asked The Real Matt Daddy , a Daddy Blogger who cooks fabulous dishes if I could steal one of his recipes. Well, Matt shared a’ beer soaked deer recipe’. I added my favorite spice to it and Voila a delicious recipe! The wheat beer gave it a unique flavor like I have never tasted before and the new recipe became a big hit with my family. Thanks Matt!
A BIG bonus to this recipe is that it is a “One Dish ” crock pot recipe. Throw everything together in the morning and you have a fully cooked meal when you come home in the evening! Ahh can’t beat that!
Some Nuts and Bolts about the key ingredients:
Wheat Beer : Helps to tenderize the meat and gives the dish a smokey exotic flavor.
Garlic : Helps remove the gamey flavor and adds some zest to the dish.
McMormicks Steak seasoning : This peppery blend of spices in my favorite spice mix for any meat dish.
Red Potatoes : Packed with fiber they make a dish a whole meal in itself.
Red Onions : Packed with B6 and potassium they are the base of the delish gravy.
Meat Tenderizer : Extra insurance to make sure the venison gets soft and tender.
Thank You ! for the great recipe 🙂 Family loved it .. so will ask you for more. BTW I went to 2 stores to hunt down the beer. One had a peachy flavored version which i did not think went with meat ! I finally got an oat flavored one. That worked out I think !
I’ve gone ahead and bookmarked http://www.suesnutritionbuzz.com/2011/12/14/deer-and-beer-with-garlic-red-potatoes at Digg.com so my friends can see it too. I simply used Deer and Beer with Garlic Red Potatoes as the entry title in my Digg.com bookmark, as I figured if it is good enough for you to title your blog post that, then you probably would like to see it bookmarked the same way.
